Description:An industrial-hygiene survey was conducted at the Pomona Pipe Products Company (SIC-3547), Greensboro, North Carolina, with particular interest in the exposure levels of silica dust. Air samples were taken to measure silica (7631869) dust, styrene (100425), ethyl-benzene (100414), and benzene (71432). All samples were below the present OSHA standard. Potential health hazards include high noise exposure in the grinding and screening area, and inadequate ventilation in the polyester, fiberglass operation. Recommendations are made for proper ventilation system as prescribed by Safety and Health Regulations, Part 1910, a copy of which is included.
