Description:Survey of the hazards associated with sulfur-dioxide (7446095) in the manufacture of fluorescent lamps reveals sulfur-dioxide levels within the plant are below the established standard of 5 parts per million and no employees presently show symptoms of nose, throat or eye irritation associated with sulfur-dioxide exposure. Because of prior reports of respiratory irritation due to sulfur-dioxide, recommendations are made for decreasing the amount of sulfur-dioxide in each machine, evacuation of areas where leakages occur and use of respirators when repairing leaks, improved ventilation, and routine maintenance checks.
