Description:Environmental survey and medical examination of workers in machining operations and milling in an electrical company, indicating that oil folliculitis or oil boils and primary irritant dermatitis are attributable to use of Gulf D-11 insoluble cutting oil and Lowlub SS40 synthetic soluble coolant. Recommendations include substitution of cutting oil or coolant with less toxic material, proper use of protective clothing, cleaning of splash guards, use of protective creams, removal of oil from skin, prompt medical advice in case of irritation, and exclusion of known sensitive workers from exposure.
