Description:Environmental sampling and medical testing of employees indicates that the concentrations of toluene diisocyanate (584849) in the air of a styrene (100425) container manufacturing plant is potentially toxic to some employees. Sensitive individuals experience mild asthma and hay fever-like symptoms, but no significant decrement of pulmonary function tests. Serological tests reveal that many individuals have been sufficiently exposed to isocyanates to produce measurable levels of antibodies. [Description provided by NIOSH]
