Description:Evaluation of toxic chemicals in a plant manufacturing specialty chemicals reveals that 10,10-oxy-bisphenoxarsine (OBPA), a compound formed from arsenic trichloride (7784341) and diphenyl oxide (101848), is responsible for the frequent incidence of allergic dermatitis. Environmental survey was impossible since manufacture of the compound was recently discontinued. No evidence is found of toxicity due to trichloroethylene (79016), methyl ethyl ketone (78933) or acetylethylenimine. It is recommended that the occupational health program be expanded in reference to exposure to FEFO (bis-fluorodinitroethyl formal) and toluene diisocyanate. [Description provided by NIOSH]
