Description:Environmental evaluation, employee response, visual observations, and employee interviews lead to the conclusion that the concentrations of furfuryl alcohol (98000) and formaldehyde (50000) found in the working environment of the air-set cure coremaking area of a foundry do not present potential toxic effects. Eye irritation and tearing experience during exposure simulating working with hot sand disappeared immediately upon cessation of exposure. [Description provided by NIOSH]
