Description:Laboratory analysis of personal air samples taken in different areas of a coke plant reveals that employee exposure to the concentrations of coal tar pitch volatiles, benzene (71432) soluble fractions, are potentially toxic. All coke plant workers have periodic chest x-rays and liver function tests to indicate any biological damage caused by coke oven emissions. Recommendations are made for administrative and other control measures. [Description provided by NIOSH]
