Description:Evaluation of the hazard of exposure to xylene (1330207), hydrogen chloride (7647010), and zinc chloride (7646857) in a circuit breaker sub-assembly area. Workers experienced eye irritation, injected conjunctivae, sore throats, and frequent headaches. Environmental sampling after minor ventilation system improvements revealed workroom air concentrations of xylene, hydrogen chloride, and zinc chloride to be below existing standards. The concentration of a mold release agent containing aliphatic and hydrocarbon solvents in the mode release work area is cited as less than the manufacturer's recommended threshold limit value.
