Description:Exposures to a heated sodium hydroxide (1310732) mist are found to be toxic at concentrations found near a chemical degreasing vat and adjacent areas of a railway diesel repair shop, causing eye, nose, and throat irritation. Recommendations are given concerning the exhaust system for the degreasing vat, interim precautionary measures, proper handling of organic solvents, noise abatement, and safety awareness.
