Description:Environmental and medical evaluations of a vehicle assembly plant reveal that employees in the plant spray booth are exposed to toxic levels of solvent vapors, xylene (1330207), toluene (108883), butyl alcohol (71363), and naphtha (8030306), causing eye irritation, skin irritation, and respiratory irritation. Levels of carbon-monoxide (630080) in the road test area are not toxic. Recommendations are made for the use of supplied air hoods during painting operations, improved local exhaust ventilation systems, periodic environmental and medical monitoring, and worker education in the hazards of carbon-monoxide.
