Description:Workers in an air brake company (SIC-3714) are randomly selected for interview and cutaneous examination. Nearly 12 percent of the workers show occupational dermatitis, caused by exposures to lubricants, coolants and greases. Recommendations include use of small brush or applicator to avoid skin contact with grease and oils, cleansing of skin with waterless hand cleansers, use of gloves or safety barrier creams, coating of inner surfaces of the nostrils with petroleum jelly and regular physical examination including pulmonary function testing and anemia.
