Description:Medical and environmental data collected during January-April 1975 indicate that exposure to airborne 2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol (128370), or DBPC, had resulted in definite and persistent eye and nose irritation among the chemical workers in the centrifuge crystallization area of the Koppers Company, Inc. (SIC-2869), Old City, Pennsylvania. Results of samplings taken subsequent to extensive engineering and ventilation changes made after the initial measurements show effective reduction in the DBPC concentrations in the area. It appears likely that the changes will be sufficient to prevent development of irritative symptoms in the employees.
