Description:Based upon environmental air samples, employee interviews, evaluation of work procedures, ventilation system and available toxicity information, at a manufacturing plant engaged in the fabrication of duplicating equipment (SIC-3579), the following conclusions were drawn: the cleaning tank worker is exposed to toxic concentrations of methylene-chloride (75092)
the methyl-ethyl- ketone (78933) parts cleaning operation in the spray paint room poses a potential health hazard
the automatic production cleaning does not constitute a health hazard
the spray paint operation does not constitute a health hazard
at least one welder is exposed to potentially toxic welding fumes concentration and a second to potentially toxic fluoride concentrations
grinders exposure to nuisance dust did not pose a health hazard at the concentrations measured during this evaluation. Recommendations to ameliorate those situations which were considered a potential health hazard are included. [Description provided by NIOSH]
