• Description:
  A potential health hazard from exposures to cyclohexanone (108941) is determined in the Extruded Hose Department of the Gates Rubber Company, (SIC-3041) Denver, Colorado, based on airborne measurements of cyclohexanone which exceed the standards recommended for the substance. Several workers are found to have primary irritant contact dermatitis from repeated exposure to solvent containing solutions. Also detected is the presence of vinyl-chloride (75014) in one out of 38 samples. Recommendations include adequate ventilation during hose extrusion, above the hopper where polyvinyl- chloride (9002862) is poured and mixed, and in the vicinity of the knitter machines to control cyclohexanone exposure.
