Description:Based on the results of physical examinations, clinical laboratory studies, observed work practices, a pertinent literature review, and environmental sampling, definite toxic exposures resulting in chloracne from pentachlorophenol (PCP) (87865) contaminants are determined to occur in the Weyerhaeuser Treating Plant (SIC-4226), De Queen, Arkansas. The contaminant responsible for chloracne is 2,3,7,8, tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD). Recommendations include bagged PCP with less contaminating substances, personal hygiene of the workers, and development of an occupational medical program. [Description provided by NIOSH]
