Description:Environmental sampling and medical evaluation were conducted at the Resin Plant, Filler Treating, Filler Sorting, Collating, Graining and Press areas of the Formica Corporation (SIC-2821) in Cincinnati, Ohio, regarding potential employee exposure to phenol (108952), formaldehyde (50000), isopropyl-alcohol (67630), triethylamine (121448), ethylene-glycol-monoethyl-ether, isopropylacetate, and n- propylacetate (109604). A relatively high percentage of symptoms and signs of eye, skin and mucous membrane irritation, though not statistically significant, may indicate some acute irritant effects under certain conditions or in sensitive individuals. The evidence does not indicate chronic health effects due to any of the materials investigated. [Description provided by NIOSH]
