• Description:
  Exposures of employees to chemical agents at a molding operation of the Welch Plastics and Manufacturing Company in Columbus, Ohio, were not found to be toxic under the conditions observed by the NIOSH hazard evaluation personnel. Worker exposures to benzene (71432), bis-chloromethyl-ether (542881), 2,6-ditert-butyl-p-cresol (128370), carbon-monoxide (630080), formaldehyde (50000), hydrogen- chloride (7647010), hydrogen-cyanide (74908), particulates, phthalates, styrene (100425) and vinyl-chloride (75014) were determined by personal and area air sampling. The workers experienced upper respiratory and eye irritation associated with the use of a reground polyvinyl-chloride (9002862) and acrylonitrile (9003569) butadiene-polystyrene material.
