Description:A Health Hazard Evaluation investigation was conducted by NIOSH on January 6, 1976, in an upholstery shop of the Frontier Airline maintenance hangar (SIC-4582), in Denver, Colorado. The survey was prompted by a request from the management regarding potential exposure to petroleum distillates, acetone (67641) toluene (108883), methyl-ethyl-ketone (78933), and hexane (110543) vapors coming from contact cement and vinyl adhesives used in the repair of airplane passenger seats. A health hazard was not documented during the evaluation. Confidential interviews on the 3 affected workers support the conclusion that there is no health problem related to these contaminants under the present operating conditions.
