Description:A Health Hazard Evaluation investigation was conducted by NIOSH on July 7, at the Martin and Shaft Company in Idaho Springs, Colorado, a facility engaged in the production of friction igniters (SIC- 2899). The survey was precipitated by the employer's interest in the health of the 10 affected employees. Based on the results of environmental sampling and confidential employee interviews, a health hazard did not exist at the time of evaluation. The concentrations of acetone (67641), 1,1,1-trichloroethane (79005), and ethanol (64175) were well below the most recent evaluation criteria. [Description provided by NIOSH]
