  Twenty four breathing zone air samples were collected at the Craig Power facility (SIC-1629) in Craig, Colorado, on September 26, 1979 to evaluate exposures to acetone (67641), styrene (100425), and methyl-ethyl-ketone (78933) (MEK). The request came from the Cement Mason Local Union 577 on behalf of an unspecified number of workers. The current OSHA standards for ketone, MEK, and styrene are 2,400, 590, and 420 milligrams per cubic meter respectively, and all air sample concentrations were below criteria. Acetone and MEK odors were very evident, and workers reported symptoms compatible with exposure. The investigator concludes that no hazard existed at the time of the survey, but a hazard may have existed at an earlier date and recommends hazard education, use of a hand cleaner to remove fibrous glass, and prompt reporting of any toxic symptoms, such as narcosis, burning or irritated eyes, upper respiratory system irritation, or dermatitis.
