Description:Personal and area air samples were analyzed for contaminants at Cobe Laboratories (SIC-3079), Arvada, Colorado, on November 15, 1979. The laboratory management requested the evaluation following two fainting episodes experienced by one employee within a 3 week time span. Air samples indicated 9.5 to 79 parts per million (ppm) of isopropanol (67630), and 0.4 to 3.6ppm of 1,1,1-trichloroethane (71556). The current exposure limits for isopropanol and 1,1,1- trichloroethane are 400 and 350ppm, respectively. Employee interviews revealed no health problems. The authors conclude that no hazard existed at the time of the survey. The fainting spells of the affected employee were not work related. [Description provided by NIOSH]
