Description:Employee exposure to polychlorinated-biphenyls (1336363) (PCBs) was evaluated at the Pacific Gas and Electric Company (SIC-4911) East Bay Division, in Oakland, California on March 27, 1980. An authorized representative of the company requested the evaluation on behalf of an unspecified number of workers. A thorough work process and emergency situation evaluation was performed. The author concludes that the company's program for maintenance and emergency handling of PCBs afford workers reasonable protection. He recommends measures to improve respiratory protection, environmental monitoring, medical surveillance, training and education, and sanitary practices. [Description provided by NIOSH]
