  General room air samples were analyzed for carbon-monoxide (630080) (CO) at the Mountain Bell (SIC-7399) facility in Lakewood, Colorado, on November 24, 1980. The evaluation was requested by the management at Mountain Bell on behalf of an unspecified number of employees. CO measurements were taken on the roof at the boiler exhaust at the intake air vents and in areas inside the facility. Constant concentrations of 85 parts per million (ppm) CO were observed at the boiler stack exhaust. Concentrations of CO ranging from 5 to 15ppm were found in two areas inside the facility. The current OSHA standard for CO is 50ppm. The author concludes that a health hazard existed at the time of the evaluation. He recommends that measures be implemented to prevent exhaust gases from reentering through the nearby intake ventilation. [Description provided by NIOSH]
