Description:Environmental air samples were analyzed for contaminants at the McCall Publishing Company (SIC-2721) in New York City, on December 30, 1980. An unidentified individual requested the evaluation on behalf of approximately forty workers who complained of eye, nose, and throat irritation, headaches, dizziness, nausea, and a metallic taste which usually were concurrent with a perceived odor of diesel like fuel. No contaminants were detected upon gas chromatographic and mass spectrophotometric analysis of the samples. The author notes that smoke from heating fires used by nearby construction workers may have been the source of the contamination in the offices.
