  Environmental air samples were analyzed for ozone (10028156) and Formaldehyde (50000) at the National Broadcasting Company (SIC-7313) on August 3 and 4, 1981. The evaluation was requested by management after several workers reported eye and skin irritation. No ozone was detected Formaldehyde was found in concentrations up to 0.15 parts per million (ppm), compared with the NIOSH recommended criterion of by medical specialists, performed prior to the NIOSH survey, were essentially negative. A previous ventilation system audit revealed that the system was unbalanced and delivered only 70 percent of the total quantity of air that it was designed to deliver. The authors conclude that no environmental conditions could be found to entirely account for the reported symptoms, although the inadequate ventilation may have contributed to their problems. They recommend that the ventilation system be adjusted to provide an adequate amount of fresh air to the offices and that the system be balanced to provide uniform air distribution.
