Description:Environmental and personal air samples were analyzed for sodium- azide (26628228) and cyclohexanone (108941) at the Yellow Springs Instrument Company (SIC-3811) in Yellow Springs, Ohio, on June 24, 1981. All measurements for sodium-azide were below the limit of detection of 0.004 milligrams per cubic meter (mg/Cum), except for two samples of 0.4 and 0.6mg/Cum taken inside the glove box where sodium-azide is used, compared with the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienist's recommended maximum exposure of to 0.8 parts per million (ppm), compared with the NIOSH recommended standard of 25ppm, as an 8 hour time weighted average. The authors concludes that there were no health hazards from exposures to sodium- azide or cyclohexanone at this facility. He recommends that management be aware of proper respirator use in the event that future circumstances require the use of respiratory equipment.
