Description:Environmental air samples were analyzed for isopropanol (67630) at Robert Dorsen, Incorporated (SIC-5732) in Rockville, Maryland, on August 27, 1981. An unidentified individual requested the evaluation on behalf of an unspecified number of workers complaining of sporadic eye, nose, and throat irritation due to fumes from a lithographic printing firm on the fourth floor. Isopropanol air concentrations averaged about 35 parts per million (ppm), compared with the OSHA standard of 400ppm for an eight-hour work shift. The author concludes that nuisance concentrations of isopropanol were present, but no health hazard from isopropanol exposure existed at this facility. He recommends that all floor openings be sealed to prevent the entrance of isopropanol vapors, and that any future adverse health reactions be documented and recorded to assist in any future investigations.
