  Personal air samples were analyzed for naphtha (8030306), xylene (1330207), cellosolve (110805), acetate (71501), diacetone-alcohol (123422), methyl-ethyl-ketone (78933), methyl-isobutyl-ketone (108101), acetone (67641), and toluene-2,4-diisocyanate (584849) at the Hillerich and Bradsby Company (SIC-2752) in Jeffersonville, Indiana on June 16, 1981. A representative of the United Steel Workers of America, Local 3931, requested the evaluation on behalf of approximately four workers. All naphtha, xylene, cellosolve- acetate, diacetone-alcohol, methyl-ethyl-ketone, methyl-isobutyl- ketone, acetone, and toluene-2,4-diisocyanate concentrations were below their respective OSHA standards of 2950, 434, 540, 240, 590, 410, 2400, and 0.14 milligrams per cubic meter of air. The author concludes that no health hazards from the tested chemicals existed at this worksite. He recommends the use of personal protective equipment and improvements in the ventilation systems.
