Description:

Potential exposure from naphthalene (91203) and methyl-chloroform (71556) used in different products for dye testing chambers were investigated as well as total chromium (7440473), manganese (7439965), and nickel (7440020), which were found in the production of these testing chambers. A total of 14 workers at Molitor Industries (SIC-3490) in Englewood, Colorado were potentially exposed during working hours. An industry representative requested the investigation which was conducted during September, 1981. Personal time weighted average exposures were determined and bulk samples of the raw materials used in the process were collected. Personal samples were well below the appropriate NIOSH and OSHA criteria of 1 milligram per cubic meter (mg/m3) for total chromium, 5mg/m3 for manganese, 0.015mg/m3 for nickel, 350mg/m3 for methyl chloroform, and 50mg/m3 for naphthalene. The author concludes that no health hazard existed since exposures were below applicable exposure criteria.
