Description:Worker exposures to noise were investigated on November 8 and 9, 1982 at Gallatin Homes Corporation (SIC-1521) in Belgrade, Montana. The evaluation was requested by company management on behalf of an unspecified number of workers. Personal and area noise levels were measured. Two of 11 personal noise levels exceeded the NIOSH limit of 85 decibels relative to the A weight scale for an 8 hour time weighted average. All workers were provided with ear muffs and plugs. The author concludes that a noise hazard exists. He recommends continued use of ear protectors, routine audiometric testing, and periodic noise monitoring.
