  A health evaluation was conducted at Robert Hall Company, Incorporated (SIC-0721), Encinitas, California, in June/July 1984. The evaluation was requested by an employee representative because of concern about potential exposures to Temik (116063) and 16 other pesticides used at the facility. A walk-through survey of all growing, storage, pesticide mixing and loading areas was conducted. Work practices were observed. Some workers were given medical interviews. Twenty-two workers were patch tested for sensitization to flowers. Skin irritation was reported by many workers, particularly those involved in cutting flowers, and dipping and transplanting seedlings. Only one worker showed evidence of skin sensitization. Several potential health hazards were identified: workers not wearing respiratory protection when entering greenhouses that had been recently sprayed or when mixing chemicals
  
  and lack of adequate reentry information. The authors conclude that a health hazard exists at the facility. Recommendations include instituting a formal respirator program in accordance with OSHA requirements, posting copies of spray schedules, posting of signs after spraying in English and Spanish, and offering periodic, brief educational programs on health and safety.
