• Description:
  The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) received a health hazard evaluation (HHE) request that was submitted jointly by the Safety Office and AFSCME Local 2910 at the Library of Congress, Washington, D.C. The request covered possible exposure to ultraviolet radiation from mercury vapor lights and electromagnetic field (EMF) exposure from both electrical vaults and anti-theft devices. EMF levels in the Readers' Registration and Genealogy rooms were below occupational guidelines but, in some locations, presented sufficient magnetic field strength to produce electromagnetic interference (EMI) issues.
