Description:On September 3, 1998, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) received a request for a health hazard evaluation (HHE) from a representative of Pike Industries, Inc. for an evaluation of worker exposure to an asphalt anti-strip additive during hot mix asphalt (HMA) paving. The request indicated that paving crew workers reported experiencing headaches, upset stomach, fatigue, rashes, itchy eyes, and sore throats when using HMA containing Wetfix 312 anti-strip additive, a proprietary aliphatic polyamine mixture.
