Description:Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease and metabolic disorder resulting in elevated blood glucose levels. It is categorized as type 1 or type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes, and other specific types due to other causes (1). Uncontrolled blood glucose levels over a long period of time can affect multiple organ systems, including the nervous system, kidneys, eyes, heart, and blood vessels (2). Diabetes is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in the United States (3). This report presents the prevalence of diagnosed, undiagnosed, and total diabetes (excluding gestational diabetes) in U.S. adults during August 2021–August 2023.
