Description:Hypertension affects almost one-half the U.S. adult population and is an important risk factor for cardiovascular disease. During 2017–March 2020, 48.1% of adults had hypertension. Among adults with hypertension, more than one-half reported taking medication to lower their blood pressure and about one-fifth had their blood pressure under control. This report presents the latest findings from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey on the prevalence, awareness, treatment, and control of hypertension among
adults in the United States during August 2021–August 2023.
