Safety Training and Equipment - 1) Testing the effectiveness of respirators and surgical masks as source control devices to prevent disease transmission. 2) Developing recommendations to improve self-escape training for underground coal miners during emergencies. 3) Surveying oil and gas workers to explore risky driving behaviors, employer safety policies, and factors affecting injury risk. These diverse research projects reveal how NIOSH addresses critical occupational safety and health challenges.
