    To facilitate a therapeutic option for treatment of severe malaria in the U.S, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has been sponsoring an Expanded Access Investigational New Drug program (IND 76,725) since 2007 to provide investigational, intravenous (IV) artesunate to requesting treating physicians for use in accordance with the IND protocol.
