Description:The Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity for Infectious Diseases Cooperative Agreement is CDC’s national funding strategy for combatting domestic infectious disease threats.
ELC’s Zika Supplemental awards will strengthen epidemiologic surveillance and investigation, improve mosquito control and monitoring, and bolster laboratory capacity in state, territorial, and local public health departments. It also will support the U.S. Zika Pregnancy Registry to monitor pregnnt women with Zika and their infants, as well as Zika-related activities in U.S.- Mexico border states. Funding distribution was determined by assessing high-risk and high- priority jurisdictions.
To help jurisdictions sustain Zika prevention and surveillance efforts through the next mosquito season, this funding is authorized through July 2018.
