Description:The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) defines workplace health programs as “a coordinated and comprehensive set of strategies implemented at the worksite that includes programs, policies, benefits, environmental supports, and links to the surrounding community designed to meet the health and safety needs of all employees.” Effective programs can reduce the risks of chronic disease and injuries and improve the health and wellness for employees, their families, and communities at large. For the employer, maintaining a healthier workforce can lower insurance costs, reduce absenteeism, and increase productivity.
