    Cardiovascular diseases, including heart disease and stroke, have a major impact on U.S. public health. In fact, heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, followed closely by stroke, the fourth leading cause of death. While the risks associated with heart disease and stroke are dependent on a number of factors, including genetics and behavior, there is a growing focus on the link between specific environmental factors and these disorders.
