Firearm suicide rates are at record high levels. Firearm suicides have a devastating impact on the safety and well-being of Americans. These deaths are preventable. CDC released the Suicide Prevention Resource for Action to help communities use the best available evidence to prevent suicide.

The figures below show the firearm suicide rates and average daily numbers of firearm suicides by month and year. The figures include provisional and final data. Provisional data are preliminary data that may not yet be complete. These data are subject to change as information continues to be collected and analyzed – as such, they are estimates that may differ from the final count. Provisional data are not final and must always be used with the understanding that numbers and information may change as the data becomes more complete. Final (annual) data are released only after we have received all death records from the states and has fully reviewed the data for completeness and quality.
