  Mpox virus detection in wastewater in the past 4 weeks, United States
  
  Communities can monitor the presence of mpox virus in wastewater samples. Data from samples can provide an early warning of mpox activity and spread in communities.
  
  As of September 15, 2023, testing data is temporarily unavailable from about 400 wastewater testing sites nationwide. A new contract is being implemented, and testing and reporting for affected sites is expected to resume shortly.
