Description:"An occupational health study of the asbestos products industry was initiated to determine health status of workers with special reference to respiratory diseases, to determine environmental factors having adverse effects upon health of workers, to determine relationships between occupational exposure and cause of death of workers, and to develop medical and environmental criteria and procedures for the control of health risks in the asbestos industry as identified in the study. Three simultaneous surveys were conducted: biometric, medical, and environmental. Environmental samples include bulk, long period gravimetric, simultaneous impinger filter, and personal. Only preliminary data are presented, and the determination of new standards for safe or allowable levels of exposure to asbestos is not included." - NIOSHTIC-2
