  • Description:
"This infographic illustrates the danger of falls to construction workers when working in hot environments and some "what to do" safety precautions. Construction workers account for more than 1 out of 3 of all work-related heat deaths. Heat exposure INCREASES RISK of traumatic injuries such as falls. Extreme heat can affect balance, reduce awareness of danger, and slow your reaction time. YOUNGER (18-34) AND OLDER (>54) workers are most at risk. What to do: 1. Provide water and easy access to toilets. 2. Train workers to understand how heat stress affects their health and safety. 3. Develop a heat awareness campaign that addresses fall injuries. 4. Onsite, have everyone drink extra water to prevent the onset of heat stress. Download and use the free OSHA-NIOSH Heat Safety Tool app. Join the Campaign to Stop Construction Falls!" - NIOSHTIC-2
