Description:We examined the incidence of toxic shock syndrome in the United States during 2006-2018 among persons <21 years old with commercial or Medicaid-insurance using administrative data. There were 1008 commercially-insured and 481 Medicaid-insured toxic shock syndrome cases. The annual rate was 1 per 100,000 and stable over time. Rates were even lower in children <5 years old and stable over time.
