Le trait drépanocytaire (SCT) n’est pas une forme légère de drépanocytose. Être porteur du SCT signifie simplement qu’une personne présente un seul gène de drépanocytose (SCD) et peut transmettre ce gène à ses enfants. Les personnes porteuses du SCT n’ont généralement aucun des symptômes de la drépanocytose et vivent une vie normale.
