2021 is the 50th anniversary of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). This video describes the origin of the institute, starting with the Department of Industrial Hygiene all the way to today. Now, as part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), NIOSH has campuses all over the country with more than 2000 staff, researchers, and contractors. The mission of NIOSH is to develop new knowledge in the field of occupational safety and health and to transfer that knowledge into practice.
