"This annual summary of notifiable diseases for 1952 contain the final figures supplied by the health authorities of the various States, the District of Columbia, the Territories, certain possessions, and the Canal Zone. Beginning January 1, 1952, revised morbidity reporting procedures, approved by the Association of State and Territorial Health Officers, became effective. A few States were not able to change all of their reporting requirements to conform with the procedures agreed upon, since legislative action was required before additional diseases could be added to their lists of reportable diseases." - p. 1
