Description:In 1978 items requesting the origin of both mother and father were included on the birth certificates of 17 States (Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Indiana, Kansas, Maine, MissisĀ sippi, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Utah, and Wyoming). These States accounted for an estimated 60 percent of all Hispanic or Spanish origin births in the United States.
