NOTE FROM THE EDITOR Responses on our new format have been very favorable, even though a few readers have been confused by the change of name from PUBLIC HEALTH REPORTS to HSMHA HEALTH REPORTS. We appreciate all comments and suggestions, whether they are complimentary or critical.

The staff is becoming adjusted to the new look and new name, and we hope to inaugurate new features as we go along. Our mission is to provide a medium of communication for people in the health field as well as to promote the exchange and documentation of scientific studies. Thus we welcome contributions from all sources for feature articles, short reports, and various announcements that will be of interest to others in our profession. We want to record the current events in the health field, so we are seeking articles on new pro- grams, new projects, and new ideas, even when they are experimental in nature. In the words of a generation younger than my own, we want to report the "now happenings" in the area of community health. Prospective authors of such feature articles can see from the ones already published that our interests in subject matter are broad and varied. We encourage authors to submit photo-graphs or other material illustrating the feature articles whenever this is possible or practical.

Naturally we still are interested in continuing to publish technical reports documenting studies and research efforts. The bulk of our journal is devoted to these scientific papers. But we want to encourage our readers to think in terms of features, progress reports, and other interesting items as well as the more scholarly papers.

We are trying to make HSMHA HEALTH REPORTS as useful and as interesting as possible,. and we need your help. Keith Kost, M.P.H. Editor HSMHA HEALTH REPORTS
